He has also organized the Portland Linux/Unix Group since 2009, coordinating over 150 speakers. By day Michael provides support for Open Source storage solutions for users of all sizes. Michael lives in Portland, Oregon with his wife and three children, dog, cat, and five chickens.

Abstract

FreeBSD is a compelling operating system for the ARM64 platform with its recent addition of bhyve ("beehive") hypervisor support and its traditional tightly-integrated features including OpenZFS, Jail, DTrace, Packet Filter, and pkg. This talk will provide an authoritative introduction to FreeBSD features and uses with a focus on the ARM64 platform.
