Abstract
Why do some user groups endure for decades while others do not? What organizational structures and personalities are needed to maintain interest, attendance and participation? The Portland Linux/Unix Group was founded over 30 years ago and is still going strong, hosting some of the top open source speakers in the world including Linus Torvalds, Kelsey Hightower and Bradley M. Kuhn.
